Heske van Doornen was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
She moved to the United States to attend Bard College, and spent several years working in New York City. She now lives in rural New York with her husband, son, and dog.
She is working on several picture books, and takes inspiration from nature, eastern philosophy, and abstract expressionism.
